2025 Tournament Plans

Bass tournament season is coming in HOT! It opens Memorial Day weekend every year in Michigan and in a lot of areas of the state, it brings the best turnouts. Here in West Michigan we’ll be all dressed up with no where to go.

Normally there is a good sized open out of Muskegon Lake on Monday. This year there is a 100 boat high school tournament on Saturday and Sunday that weekend. So, there will be no West Michigan Bass tournament that Monday. The lake is going to take a beating that weekend as it is. I can definitely support not beating on it 3 days in row. As far as I can tell there isn’t anything else going on. So I’ll be looking forward to hanging out with the family and hopefully getting some on the water time with them.

West Michigan Bass D&R Sports Bass Tournament

D&R is going to look a little different this year with the cancellation of the east division. I’m surprised that guys really didn’t get behind it on that side of the state. But that seems to be a constant struggle for tournament series over there, especially Lake St. Clair. With that division cancelled the west division goes back to 5 tournaments (fish 4 out of 5 to make the Classic). I’m sure we’ll do them all even if we don’t get a chance to practice somewhere like Hardy Dam. Might as well show up and hope to get lucky because there is always contingency/random draw money to be won. I haven’t seen a list of contingency prizes yet but I hope we will soon.

I don’t know how I feel about 2 Grand River tournaments especially with it so low. I'm sure the later event will be some tough fishing. But it should be interesting to fish it in early June. I don’t know that I’ve ever done a big tournament there at that time of year but I’m sure Trevor will be dialed in. Who knows what to expect on the White and Muskegon ones other than big weights.

I’m sure I’ll hop into some HOTD tournaments too when they are convenient. There are some other options on the weekend too but I’m probably not paying the membership since I won’t make it to their classics but you never know. Of course we’ll still be fishing COTM West on Monday nights. It doesn’t get any better than that for weekday tournaments.

Lastly, I’m going to jump into some more salmon tournaments. Hopefully the weather will align for the Grand Haven Offshore Challenge again. It is unfortunately the same weekend as the Grand Traverse Bay HOTD tournament. I know I have a D&R tournament the same weekend as the Muskegon salmon tournament but maybe I’ll get to hop on the boat Sunday if they need me.

In the meantime I’ve been busy getting these new Humminbirds rigged up and am looking forward to a lake test on Sunday.
