White Lake 6-7-26

Here comes another rare bass report. This wasn't a very serious trip. But since I hadn't been to White at all this year and had an upcoming tournament. It would be helpful to at least get an idea of what it looked like.

The main motivation though was to have a fun fishing night with all 3 girls. White is the perfect lake for learning to bass fish because it can be so random at times. We started fishing really shallow and with some stained water and a light chop it was really productive. The 2 older girls were tossing senkos and doing surprisingly well. I was legitimately impressed and their best 5 for the night would have been over 13 pounds. Millie was reeling in anything I hooked and that was fun too.

We stayed shallow all night and there was absolutely a pattern of inside grass lines and sand. Instead of looking at lots of different stuff we just kept the trolling motor down and having a good time. Another highlight was the epic trash pickup we had. If I see floating trash I make it a point to scoop it up and throw it away at home. One of them spotted a can so we picked it up. Full beer! Well almost, it had a pinhole leak. But closer inspection revealed a scum line of beer cans. Some full, some empty, and a couple more with pinhole leaks. In the end we rescued 7 full beers for another day.

Shortly after that Mabel hooked up on a big fish. The excitement of having her first dogfish on was contagious. It also mellowed things out because her sister was catching them pretty good to start and she wasn't liking being beat.

We did find some topped out grass later in the night and I'm drawn to that. We got in there and right away Millie got to reel in one over 3. Then one we put on the scale that went 4.04. She loves talking about her 4 pounder now and the fact that she's 4. Even I was throwing a senko at this point, it was just working.

I was keeping them out way too late and we had hoped for a frenzy of fish feeding on alewives. We found the alewife spawn but no bass with them (luckily we found a better area during the tournament).

We'll try and do a lot more of this style of trip this year. It was really memorable for all of us and so much fun!
