Grand River Bayou's 5-20-26
Long overdue with all the windy and cold weather this spring. But 2 of the girls and I finally got out for some spring bluegills. One had to miss out for soccer practice but it was fun to go with just the youngest 2!
Our program was pretty simple. Bobbers with Clam Tungsten jigs, tipped with spikes left over from the winter. We had to search around a little bit to find them and ended up catching both spawning and pre spawn gills. The one consistent thing was inside weed edges with sand nearby. The weeds were really up everywhere else although we did catch a few out of pad stems.
Dirt shallow was the name of the game. Everything in less than 2 feet but if you could see bottom in the stained water it was best. No bonus crappies or anything just gills, a few pumpkinseeds, and a couple small bass. Fishing was fantastic when you got around them, so my advice would be to keep on the move unless that bobber is dropping every cast.
It is always a good trip when all the snacks don't get eaten and you have to shut them down because you don't want to clean anymore fish!
