Muskegon Fishing Report - 7/30/26

It's been awhile since I've been out trolling. But the stars aligned for calm weather, close fish, and a family trip. We hopped in Cameron and Kelsey's Ranger for an evening trip out of Muskegon.

We had riggers, divers, and coppers up to a 225 in the water. We fished north all night and not surprisingly it was slow to start. First fish was a really nice steelhead on a 225 copper and stranglehold UV blue flounder. June has always wanted a big “rainbow trout” and she got it!

Next up was Mabel with a laker on a 200 copper on a Beaver alien breath. It was great to get some trout bites but that's not what we were after. They would mean something if they were kings. So we headed back shallower (these were out in 80) and closer to port.

It was all king bites the rest of the night. The 225 copper took several more bites. A Mr Chrome with a glow back took another fish on the 200 copper. Then some divers fired with beaver mag spoons and we lost them all. We ended up 4-9 and had a great night. Amazing weather and a great crew! Our last light flurry was in tight around 50 -55 feet and I would have loved to have been back in that water this morning!
